16-Year-Old Boy Dies After Drowning at Juhu Chowpatty; Emergency Teams Mobilised in Mumbai
A 16-year-old boy, Sarfaraz Khan, drowned at Juhu Chowpatty beach in Mumbai’s western suburbs on Friday evening. Emergency teams including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, and ambulance services responded swiftly. The boy was rescued and taken to Cooper Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
According to officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, response teams including the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police personnel, and ambulance services were mobilised without delay after the drowning incident was reported from the busy beach area.
The teenager was pulled out of the water by the Mumbai Fire Brigade and lifeguards deployed at the site. He was subsequently rushed to Cooper Hospital for urgent medical treatment. However, the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer confirmed that Sarfaraz Khan was declared dead upon examination.
Authorities stated that coordinated rescue efforts were initiated at the earliest possible moment, but the teenager could not be revived despite prompt evacuation and medical intervention.
The incident has once again raised concerns regarding water safety and emergency preparedness at public beaches in Mumbai, where large crowds frequently gather, especially during evening hours.
